Pre-Installation Procedure for Additional Modules (features and Languages Pairs)

This pre-installation procedure describes how to install a second product in addition to an existing installation. This procedure applies only to downloaded products (for CD installation, just add the new serial number as explained in point 1, and modify the program installation as explained in point 4.

1. Windows Vista Users ONLY

1.1. Prior to adding a licence number (point 1 bellow), you need to deactivate the UAC (User Access Control) from Vista:

  1. Open Administrative Tools in Control Panel
  2. Double-click on System Configuration
  3. Click Continue to accept the UAC prompt
  4. Select the Tools tab
  5. Scroll down and select Disable UAC
  6. Click Launch
  7. Restart your PC for the change to take effect

1.2. Adding the “launch as administrator” option to the vbs scripts:

Copy to a local folder the “elevate” scripts:

  • ElevateWSHScript.inf
  • elevate.vbs
  • elevate.cmd

These files are in the ".zip" file available for download by clicking here (ZIP - 14 Kb).

Right click on ElevateWSHScript.inf and install.

2. Adding a Serial Number

  • Prior to launching the setup of additional features, you need to add the new serial number to access the additional features.
  • This can be done through the About>License contextual menu of SYSTRAN tray icon:

3. Merging

  1. Copy downloaded installation file(s) to your local hard disk and extract the installer to a temporary extraction folder.
  2. Double-click on the merge_msi.vbs file. If SYSTRAN is not already installed, normal setup will occur, otherwise you will be notified that the MSI database has been merged.
Users of the current release of our products do not need to run merge_msi.vbs - if merge_msi.vbs was not included with your product, then you can skip this step.

For Windows Vista users: right click on vbs script and "run as administrator".

After a while, you should receive a message telling to proceed to "add/remove panel".

4. Installing Additional Language Modules

  1. Go to the Windows Control Panel, then select Add or Remove Programs.
  2. Click on the entry for SYSTRAN and then click the Change button.
  3. Choose the new options that will be added to the already installed product.
  4. Follow setup instructions.
  5. Restart your PC for the change to take effect.

5. Windows Vista Users Only

Reactivate the UAC as follows:

  1. Open Administrative Tools in Control Panel
  2. Double-click on System Configuration
  3. Click Continue to accept the UAC prompt
  4. Select the Tools tab
  5. Scroll down and select Enable UAC
  6. Click Launch
  7. Restart your PC for the change to take effect

NOTE :

You must restart your PC when requested to be sure that Windows accounts for all updates/merge in the MSI database.
