SYSTRAN is seeking to hire a highly-qualified computational linguist to join an international team working to develop MT resources. This person must have strong knowledge and skills in corpus-based NLP methods and corpus development and maintenance, and must also have deep interest in extending and enhancing the capabilities of machine translation.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Extraction of mono- and bilingual corpora from the Web, and development of tools for their exploitation
- Training of statistical translation models and models to improve text analysis
- Dictionary database management and maintenance
- Implementation of linguistic procedures according to specifications
Skills:
The ideal candidate must also meet the following requirements:
- Strong skills in statistical NLP and corpus-based computational linguistics (machine translation, syntactic analysis, word sense disambiguation)
- Thorough knowledge of mySQL (development and administration)
- Significant programming experience in C, Perl, XML and Linux tools
- Fluency in English and French; native competence in other language is a strong plus
